These instructions explain how to purchase prepaid vouchers using the Web site from your personal computer or mobi site from your cellphone at www.quantumwallet.co.za.

Before you start,

Next, log on at www.quantumwallet.co.za using your cellphone number and PIN. After logging in, you will be presented with the following functions:

 

 Airtime

Select this option to purchase denominated prepaid airtime vouchers.You can also reprint the voucher from a previous purchase.

 

To purchase a voucher:

  • Select the airtime operator from the list of airtime operators.
  • Next, select the denominated voucher from the list.
  • Next, enter the quantity of vouchers you want to purchase. You can purchase up to 3 vouchers in a single transaction. You can also optionally enter the customer's email address and/or cellphone number to deliver the voucher via email and/or SMS to the customer. Click Purchase.
  • The vouchers (PIN and serial number) will be displayed on your computer or cellphone screen after requesting the purchase.

To reprint a previously purchased voucher, select the Reprint option. Then, you can either:

  • Select the operator (e.g. MTN, Vodacom, etc) and then the voucher type to reprint the voucher from the last transaction for that voucher type, or
  • Enter a transaction ID to reprint the voucher for that particular transaction, or
  • Click the Reprint button to reprint the voucher from the most recent transaction.

 

 Eskom Electricity

Eskom call center: 086 003 7566

 

Select this option to purchase a 20-digit prepaid electricity token for an Eskom prepaid electricity meter. Select the Purchase option, and then enter the prepaid electricity meter number and click Check Meter. This step will verify that the entered meter number is a valid Eskom meter. In the following page, if the meter number is correct, you will be presented with the registered name and/or address of the owner of the meter as registered on the Eskom database. Then, enter the amount twice (as confirmation), and also optionally enter the customer's email address and/or cellphone number to deliver the voucher via email and/or SMS to the customer, and click Go. The token  will be displayed on your computer or cellphone screen after requesting the purchase.

 

Click here to browse a list of common error messages you may receive when trying to purchase prepaid electricity tokens. Most of these error messages are not generated by the Quantum Wallet system, but are generated mostly by the Eskom and municipality prepaid electricity systems.

 

The other functions that are presented under the Eskom Electricity menu are:

  • Blind Purchase: if you receive the error Try by other transaction and you are sure you have an Eskom prepaid meter, then select this function and enter all the additional information requested in the form. This information should either be on your prepaid electricity card (if you have one), or on the receipt of a previous purchase. Next, enter the amount and proceed as with the normal purchase function. If you still encounter problems, please contact the Eskom call centre)
  • Free Subsidy: select this option to request your monthly Free Basic Electricity (FBE) token. Enter the prepaid electricity meter number and click Check Meter to proceed. You cannot request more than one FBE token in a month, regardless of where you previously obtained your FBE token for the month.
  • Blind Free Subsidy: select this option if you want to request your FBE token, and you received the error Try by other transaction when using the standard Free Subsidy option. Enter all the additional information requested in the form. This information should either be on your prepaid electricity card (if you have one), or on the receipt of a previous purchase. Click Check Meter to proceed.
  • Update Meter Details: select this option if you received the instruction Update meter key  during any one of the above functions. Enter the prepaid electricity meter number and click Check Meter to proceed, and then Go. This function will request a new set of one or more engineering tokens that you must then enter into the prepaid electricity meter before purchasing more tokens for that meter.
  • Blind Update Meter Details: select this option if you tried the above Update Meter Details function and received the error Try by other transaction. Enter all the additional information requested in the form. This information should either be on your prepaid electricity card (if you have one), or on the receipt of a previous purchase. Click Check Meter to proceed as per the normal Update Meter Details function.
  • Reprint: select this option to reprint the token from a previous transaction. 
    • Enter the meter number to reprint the token from the most recent transaction for this meter, or
    • Enter the transaction ID to reprint the token for that particular transaction, or
    • Click Reprint to reprint the token from the most recent transaction for Eskom Electricity.

 

 Tshwane Electricity

Select this option to purchase a 20-digit prepaid electricity token for a Tshwane prepaid electricity meter. Select the Purchase option, and then enter the prepaid electricity meter number and click Check Meter. This step will verify that the entered meter number is a valid Tshwane meter. In the following page, if the meter number is correct, you will be presented with the registered name and/or address of the owner of the meter as registered on the Tshwane database. Then, enter the amount twice (as confirmation), and also optionally enter the customer's email address and/or cellphone number to deliver the voucher via email and/or SMS to the customer, and click Go. The token  will be displayed on your computer or cellphone screen after requesting the purchase.

  • Free Subsidy: select this option to request your monthly Free Basic Electricity (FBE) token. Enter the prepaid electricity meter number and click Check Meter to proceed. You cannot request more than one FBE token in a month, regardless of where you previously obtained your FBE token for the month.
  • Reprint: select this option to reprint the token from a previous transaction. 
    • Enter the meter number to reprint the token from the most recent transaction for this meter, or
    • Enter the transaction ID to reprint the token for that particular transaction, or
    • Click Reprint to reprint the token from the most recent transaction for Tshwane Electricity.

 Municipality Electricity

Select this option to purchase a 20-digit prepaid electricity token for various municipal prepaid electricity meters. Select the Purchase option, and then enter the prepaid electricity meter number and click Check Meter. This step will verify that the entered meter number is a valid municipal meter. In the following page, if the meter number is correct, you will be presented with the registered name and/or address of the owner of the meter as registered on the municipality database. Then, enter the amount twice (as confirmation), and also optionally enter the customer's email address and/or cellphone number to deliver the voucher via email and/or SMS to the customer, and click Go. The token  will be displayed on your computer or cellphone screen after requesting the purchase.

    • Enter the meter number to reprint the token from the most recent transaction for this meter, or
    • Enter the transaction ID to reprint the token for that particular transaction, or
    • Click Reprint to reprint the token from the most recent transaction for Municipality Electricity.

 

 LOTTO Topup

Select this option to purchase a LOTTO top-up voucher. Read about how to use LOTTO topup vouchers to play the lottery.

 

Select the desired denominated voucher from the list. You can purchase up to 3 vouchers in a single transaction. You can also optionally enter the customer's email address and/or cellphone number to deliver the voucher via email and/or SMS to the customer. The vouchers (PIN and serial number) will be displayed on your computer or cellphone screen after requesting the purchase.

 

To reprint a previously purchased voucher, select the Reprint option. Then, you can either:

  • Select the voucher to reprint the voucher from the last transaction for that voucher type, or
  • Enter a transaction ID to reprint the voucher for that particular transaction, or
  • Click the Reprint button to reprint the voucher from the most recent transaction.

 

 Absa CashSend

Select this option purchase an Absa CashSend voucher. With Absa CashSend, you can send money to someone who does not have a bank account. Neither you (as the originator), nor the nominated recipient, require an Absa bank account to purchase and redeem an Absa CashSend voucher. Please read the information about Absa CashSend and Quantum Wallet before purchasing a voucher.

 

You can purchase an Absa CashSend voucher from Quantum Wallet, which will be sent to the recipient (his/her cellphone) nominated by yourself. The recipient of the Absa CashSend voucher can use the voucher, called a Withdrawal Number, to withdraw cash from any Absa ATM without the usage of a card by entering both the 10-digit Withdrawal Number sent to them by the Absa CashSend system, and the corresponding 6-digit Access Code created by Quantum Wallet.

 

The value of the CashSend voucher, plus the costs and levies associated with the voucher, will be deducted from your Quantum Wallet.

 

To purchase an Absa CashSend voucher (instructions for you as the originator):

  • Select the Purchase option
  • Next, specify the recipient's cellphone number (this is the person who should receive the Withdrawal Number to withdraw cash at an Absa ATM), and select Go.
  • Next, specify the value of the Absa CashSend voucher in the amount fields (the cost of the voucher will be added to the specified value of the voucher as an additional levy). The amount must be a multiple of R10. You can also optionally specify an additional cellphone number and/or email address to which the 6-digit Access Code should be sent. Then select Go.
  • A 6-digit Access Code will be provided to you by Quantum Wallet and will be displayed on the screen of your cellphone or computer. You must provide this 6-digit Access Code to the recipient together with the voucher value.
  • A 10-digit Withdrawal Number will be sent to the recipient's cellphone via SMS from Absa. The CashSend Withdrawal Number must be used within 30 days.

How to withdraw cash with an Absa CashSend voucher (instructions for the recipient):

  • Visit any Absa ATM and select CashSend followed by CashSend Withdrawal.
  • Enter the 10-digit Withdrawal Number that has been sent to your cellphone.
  • Enter the 6-digit Access Code, together with the exact amount being sent.
  • Once the transaction has been verified, the money will be issued to you.
  • Only the full amount can be withdrawn.

You can reprint the 6-digit Access Code issued by Quantum Wallet for a previously-purchased Absa CashSend voucher. Select the Reprint option, an then:

  • Enter the recipient cellphone number to reprint the 6-digit access code for the last transaction for that cellphone number, or
  • Enter the Quantum Wallet transaction ID to reprint the 6-digit access code for that transaction, or
  • Leave all fields blank to reprint the 6-digit access code for the last Absa CashSend transaction.

You can also specify an optional email address to which the 6-digit access code should be delivered.

 

 Mini-Statement

Select this option to view a number of different statements for your wallet. Click here for instructions on how to access and use the more comprehensive reporting and management console. These include:

 

Sales Statement

This statement shows all purchases/sales against your wallet. The statement includes the following columns:

  • Date: date and time when the sale took place
  • Transaction ID: the unique transaction ID associated with the purchase
  • Stock Type: the type of voucher or stock purchased, e.g. electricity, denominated voucher or transfer, etc.
  • Stock Name: the name of the voucher purchased, e.g. M010 for MTN R10 voucher, V012 for Vodacom R12 voucher, etc, or the electricity meter number for an electricity purchase, or the Member ID for a transfer, or the recipient cellphone number for a Absa CashSend purchase.
  • Amount: the value of the purchase.

The statement lists the purchases chronologically, with the most recent transactions first. Click the Next or Previous links at the bottom of the statement to view additional pages (10 records are shown per page).

 

Detailed Statement

This statement lists all transactions against your wallet, including sales/purchases, commissions/discounts and other debits and credits. The statement includes the following columns:

  • Date: the date and time of the transaction
  • Transaction ID: the unique transaction ID associated with the transaction
  • Bill Code: the numeric bill code of the transaction
  • Description: the description of the bill code
  • Amount: the amount credited to (positive number) or debited from (negative number) your account.

The statement lists the transactions chronologically, with the most recent transactions first. Click the Next or Previous links at the bottom of the statement to view additional pages (10 records are shown per page).

 

Deposits

This statement lists all deposits credited to your wallet, including bank deposit fees. The statement includes the following columns:

  • Date: the date and time of the transaction
  • Transaction ID: the unique transaction ID associated with the transaction
  • Bill Code: the numeric bill code of the transaction
  • Description: the description of the bill code
  • Amount: the amount credited to (positive number) or debited from (negative number) your account.

The statement lists the transactions chronologically, with the most recent transactions first. Click the Next or Previous links at the bottom of the statement to view additional pages (10 records are shown per page).

 

 Transfer

Select this option to transfer funds from your wallet to another member's wallet. You can use this function if:

  • You want to send credit to another Quantum Wallet member, e.g. a friend or relation
  • You want to receive cash from another Quantum Wallet member

To transfer funds:

  • Select the Transfer option;
  • Enter the Member ID of the member you want to transfer the funds to, and click Continue;
  • Enter an optional reference description that will be displayed on your statements and the statements of the recipient member, and click Continue;
  • Enter the amount (twice as confirmation), and click Go;
  • At the confirmation page, click Confirm or Cancel;
  • The result will be displayed on the screen of your cellphone or computer

You can also reprint the result of a previous transfer transaction. This provides a way to validate that the previous transfer transaction took place. Select the Reprint/Validate option and then:

  • Enter the Member ID to reprint the last transfer to that account holder, or
  • Enter the transaction ID to reprint the transfer from a previous transaction, or
  • Leave both fields blank to reprint the last transfer for this terminal and select Go.

 Check Balance

Select this option to query the current, available balance of your Quantum Wallet.

 

 Change PIN

Select this option to change your login PIN. You will be required to enter your current PIN and your new PIN twice (as confirmation) in the same form. You will then be logged out so that you can log in with your new PIN.
