Cellphone GPRS/3G Configuration for Data Services

This page provides a guideline for enabling the GPRS/3G data services for your cellphone. This is a requirement if you want to access the Quantum Wallet mobi site from your cellphone. Most cellphones will be automatically configured when you install your SIM card (follow the SMS instructions sent by your network operator to enabled GPRS/data services).

 

Customer Service Numbers

The following are the Customer Service Numbers for some of the cellphone Service Providers.

  • Vodago (Vodacom): Dial 114
  • MTN: Dial 173
  • Cell-C: Dial 140
  • Virgin Mobile: Dial 123

Enable GPRS Settings

Follow these instructions to enable the GPRS Settings on your phone. If you experience any problems, please contact your service provider with the numbers provided above.

 

Vodacom

For GPRS Settings:

  • 111 # Yes/OK.
  • Select "Device Setup", and then select "send".
  • Select your phone type, and then select "send".
  • Follow the instructions presented to you, phone 111 or visit the Vodacom website for more information.

For SIM activation:

  • Call 111
  • Select Option 3
  • Select Option 4
  • Press "0" and then ask the operator to activate your SIM.

Note that the service is usually available after 24 hours.

 

MTN

  • *123 * 13 # Yes/OK.
  • Dial 173 for MTN Customer Service to active GPRS on your phone and SIM card.
  • MTN provides online support

Cell-C

  • SMS "Smartdata" to 084 155 9911
  • You will receive a welcome SMS.
  • You will also receive an Activation MMS. Reply "Yes".
  • You will receive a SMS with GPRS settings. Save GPRS settings.
  • Switch off phone.
  • Switch on phone.
  • Cell-C provides online support

Virgin Mobile

  • Go to your Virgin Mobile menu.
  • Select the option called "Virgin Settings".
  • After a while you will receive two SMS’s with settings.
  • Open the SMS’s and select "Save" from the menu.
  • Virgin Mobile provides online support
